I love Bilic but I think he's got a bit carried away with all the plaudits he received as a pundit in the summer and has taken his eye off the ball with us a little.

We don't seem to be as organised as we were last season, not as fit, not as hungry and definitely lack motivation. Hopefully it's just a blip and we can turn it around.

Where is that team vs West Brom thread ?

It's not easy to chase a game in front of a waiting list.

Kouyate was worse than Noble. Basically invisible.

Bilic is losing it, the honeymoon period is over. What anyone sees in noble I don't know - championship standard at best. Poor defence and tactics - we are in trouble already

Conceding four at home after being two up is a rare feat at any level of football. What effect the sight of celebrating fans being manhandled by security actually had on players' performance is an unknown but they looked a beaten side at 2-1 up and Watford were swaggering around.

Which begs the questions - is this the experience the club are really trying to sell? Or has someone fucked up massively and can it be put right and put right quick?

Woeful performances all over the park. Standout 'bads' for me were Adrian, Byram, Collins, Noble and Zaza (what a waste of money this guy will prove to be). Subs no better.

Next game hopefully Arbeola will be fit enough for a defence of Randolph, Arbeola, Reid, Ogbonna, Arthur.

And the midfield could use a couple of days tackling practice.

It wasn't Byram best game, but I remember Cresswell having a stinker against Bournemouth last season so things change around. Ogbonna in for Collins for West Brom for me though.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Watford - The Official Match Thread FT 2-4
After sitting through watching it again on MOTD as bad as the back four were they weren't helped by a severe lack of screening from a poor midfield. Three of the four goals none of the midfielders were goal side and for all of them Kouyate was merely ambling about with no effort whatsoever. With Lanzini and Payet not exactly defensive minded Noble and Kouyate need to get their shape sorted and get some tackles in. They did neither today.

Backing off, backing off, backing off.. how about you actually make a fucking tackle.

Morons.

Watford changed their tactics when they were 2-0 down.

We just carried on with the same tactics that got us in front, exploiting their surrendering of midfield, when they stopped surrendering it.

losing 2-4 to Watford is criminal. looking at Bilic's recent record is not great reading. we lost the last 2 games of last season then lost all pre-season friendlies apart from 1. we have won 1 game thus far this season in the PL. played probably 14 games and won 2. Hoping they can turn this around and sharpish

Hairy - it can't be nervousness in front of so many fans, as one of our best games last season was in the Cup at Old Trafford, in front of as many HOSTILE fans

It has to be said defensively even last season West ham could be terrible and did not fill me with confidence though this game was not that simple the team gave away three points without trying .

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Watford - The Official Match Thread FT 2-4
Byram is not ready that is for sure he stood off when he should have made closer he looked like a deer in the lights.

Noble went missing too and had a bad game, it happens some days the pressure will be too much for some of these players it is not the stadium but maybe the 60 000 that will get to some of the players. for me a good season was always a mid table finish and I do not wish for or expect much more because of the new stadium.

Axeman,

Yep Byram was shit, so was Reid (as he has been for some time), we disagree on Collins who I felt was dropped in it time and time again but that's fine. Definitely not one of his better games, no argument there. But I do feel the midfield was also culpable. The defence was under constant pressure from about 10 minutes in, and as bad as some of their performances were that certainly doesn't help.

Agreed. That's a more articulate way of putting what I said much earlier on this thread. We outscored the opposition last season but the signs were there and the amount of games where we started slow and had to come from behind was ridiculous. We had quite a few 3-2, 4-3, 4-2 results from what I recall. It catches up with you eventually.

Pretty shit day really but this result is secondary as I've just found out an old university friend of mine has passed away. I'm 30 and she was about the same age I think so, yeah, it could be worse!

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Watford - The Official Match Thread FT 2-4
You talk about the midfield but byram held his player up long enough for collins to get round to support him, he didn't, 2nd goal was a disaster, 3rd Reid let his man turn and gave him 5 yards space, under 10s stuff that and Flappy Adrian letbthe ball go through him, absolute school boy defending.
